きょうの音楽 Marika Papagika

The breakup of the Ottoman Empire displaced millions of people, 

thousands made their way to the United States.

 Marika Papagika emigrated to New York around 1915 from the island of Kos,

 now part of Greece. 

She was one of the first generation of Greek women singers to be heard on sound recordings. This was recorded in 1928.

オスマン帝国の崩壊で、離ればなれになった膨大な数の人々。

その中の数千人はアメリカへ渡りました。

Marika Papagika（マリカ・パパギカ）は、

1915年頃、当時のコス島（現在のギリシャの一部）から

ニューヨークへ渡った女性シンガーです。

この曲は、ファーストジェネレーションの
ギリシャの女性シンガーの歌として、
ニューヨークで1928年に収録されたものです。
